day 13 - Pocatello, Idaho to Great Falls ,Montana - 412 miles

Today is Jan 1, 2009, the first day of the new year. This was one of the treacherous road with lots of blowing snow. We left Pocatello at 9.30 am and reached Great falls at about 6.00 pm. The challenge was passing Monida pass in Idaho but fortunately the roads were good. However the road in and out of Helena (lots of mountains) were challenging and the snowfall added more challenge and we were just able to drive at 40 MPH. Checked in at the Days Inn for $70 per day. Good and well maintained motel. On Jan 2, plan is to leave at 9 am to reach Calgary by 5 pm. The forecast for here is 2 inches of snow overnight and 6 more inches on the road while we are driving northwards on I-15 to the border entering Canada. Hope for the best

DAY 12 - Cedar City to Pocatello, Idaho - 412 miles

I am writing in a rush. On Dec 31, 2008 left cedar city at 9.30 am arriving at 4 00 pm at Pocatello.Its a small Potato farmers town where we spent the new years eve. The road to Pocatello were good although there was lots of snow on the ground. On Jan 1 will be leaving at 10 am for Great falls, Montana. Its about 400 miles journey and the forcast is flurries/snow in mountains. Lets see how it goes. Will add a new post as soon as we reach Great falls.
